Coconut Oil Pulling, 15 Minutes a Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

May 16, 2013 -- 1:13pm

If you know anything about me, you know I am OBSESSED with Coconut. Coconut snacks, milk, water, oil, candles, lotion, coffee creamer....safe to say, I love anything Cococnut! I carry my coconut oil in my purse and use it for EVERYTHING! I cook with it, eat a teaspoon a day, use it as my lotion, lip gloss, face lotion, put it in my shakes, and recently Ive been Oil Pulling with coconut oil. It has done amazing things for my skin, teeth, headaches, and even cured my strep throat the 1st day! It is also a natural DETOX for your body....so skip the crazy "juice no eating" detox thingys, all you need is coconut oil! Coconut Oil can help in the early stages of Alzhiemers, it is a natural source of energy, aids in weight loss, there are thousands of health benefits. It is importatnt to get the UNREFINED oil though, if it is refined it goes through a process that takes all the good stuff out of it.  Read on to see what Oil Pulling is and how you do it!!.......

How Coconut Oil Pulling a  day keeps the doctor away.........

(yes I take mine EVERYWHERE!)

The process attracts and removes bacteria, toxins, and parasites that live in your mouth or lymph system, and also pulls congestion and mucus from your throat and loosens up your sinuses, which is amazing! With the help of your saliva, all these scary undesirables bind with the oil, ready to be disposed of. Pulling also helps re-mineralize your teeth and strengthen your gums by thoroughly cleansing the area. This sounds good, right? But how exactly do you do it?

Traditionally, oil pullers used virgin sesame oil. The reason I prefer to use raw coconut oil is because it has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and enzymatic properties. This provides the added benefit of killing any unwanted bacteria that may be residing in the mouth, while leaving behind healthy probiotic strains. A perfect exchange!

To start, scoop ½ to 1 full tablespoon of oil into the mouth; if it’s cold, allow the oil to melt. Now push, swirl, and pull the oil between your teeth, around your gums, and allow it to touch every part of your mouth except your throat. You don’t want the oil getting in contact with your throat because it’s now carrying somewhat toxic material. No gargling!

Have fun with it, though! Hum a little song, or practice deep breathing through your nose. Allow this to be a sacred time. Enjoy the feeling of cleansing, the relaxation with the absence of talking. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of smiling with a mouth full of oil. Something about it just feels so right! I do it while in the shower and usually driving home from work.

Once your time pulling is over, spit into the trash or toilet, but never the sink — the oil could solidify and clog your drain. Now rinse your mouth out with clean water two or three times. Brush your teeth if you can and finally, drink a glass of water and relax. You should be feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

Why oil pull? A popular reason for oil pulling is to find relief from congestion in the sinuses and throat. It is unbelievable how quickly this happens! Immediately after rinsing, you will find yourself blowing your nose and clearing your throat. I have worked with people struggling with chronic sinus congestion who experienced relief unlike anything else, after oil pulling only once! Their condition improved and the congestion eventually went away completely.

Oil pulling will  benefit your gums and teeth, mine were extremely sensitive. Now my  gums are  strengthened, and teeth are much whiter! It also proved to be beneficial to my skin, which cleared up dramatically, and became bright and almost glowing. Swishing with coconut oil has also proven to be beneficial to those with skin disorders such as psoriasis, and is great for anyone who wants to detox and begin taking better care of their immune system.

Oil pulling can be done at any time of the day, but for a more thorough detox, its best to do this in the morning, before eating or drinking. If you are having a hard time fitting oil pulling into your routine, I’ve found a nice time to do this is while in the shower. This way, you aren’t counting the clock until the minutes are up; simply spit when your shower is done.

I hope you enjoy this healing, divine and sensual experience as much as I do. Love the oil. Love the process. Happy pulling!

TURBO CHARGE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS BY ADDING THESE TWO THINGS TO YOUR SALAD!

May 14, 2013 -- 12:08pm

Ahhh, it finally feels like summer is here to stay! It's been a long winter for everyone.

Time for the pool and beach.......but wait........are you ready for the pool and bikini or do you need to turbo charge your weight loss and get ready for the little polka dot bikini??

Well good news, you can turbo charge your weight loss by adding 2 little things to your salad!!

Spinach and Walnuts!!

The lipoic acid in spinach prompts cells to burn fat for fuel so efficiently that eating just three cups a week can trim away 5% of your weight in six months. When you combine spinach with walnuts' plant fats triples absorption of slimming lipoic acid.

These findings came from  a study at Ohio State University.

SINGLE MOTHERS, THIS IS FOR YOU ON MOTHERS DAY....AND EVERYDAY!

May 10, 2013 -- 12:22pm

I'm not a poet, and I know it .....
But this is for you
Single Moms on Mother's Day and everyday......

Your days are so long
but perseverance so strong

To stay strong you keep you eye on the prize
For the babies you sacrifice

You have the worry of the scurry
Getting them all from a to b can be a flurry

At times you find you have more mouths to feed than there is food in the house
And for them, you eat like a mouse

Sometimes bills go unpaid to make sure your kids have the supplies to make the grade.

You will do all you can do
For the gift that's been given to you.

You are a single mother
Going through the single struggle
Of raising you children alone
You are both mama and daddy in your home.

You are in and out of court
Trying to get some type of support
But the daddy can’t seem to keep a job
He doesn’t care if his children eat or starve

So, you do the best you can
Trying to raise boys into men.

At night you find yourself asking, “Why?”
And then sometimes you just have to cry.

If I can share a secret
that has gotten me through
And will do the same for you......
You do your best and God will do the rest!

He is the father to the fatherless.
They may go with less
But the love is endless!

He gives rest to the weary.
Rest single mom.....it may feel your in this alone, but trust, that you are not ever alone.

The reward for all single moms is in your child's smile and kiss at the end of a long hard day!
That's the fuel that takes you into the next day!

And so to you, I wish you all
Rest before tomorrow's endless call
Happy Mother's Day!
